France put on a masterclass at the MetLife Stadium, dismantling Sweden 3-0 in their Round of 32 clash to book a place in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16.

Mbappé the difference-maker

Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock just before half-time (45') and then returned to complete a personal brace in the 74th minute, with Bradley Barcola adding a third in between (53'). The three goals showcased France's clinical edge and attacking depth.

Sweden offered little

Sweden, despite a spirited effort, were simply outclassed. France controlled possession, tempo and territory throughout, leaving the Swedish side with no meaningful opportunities on goal.

Paraguay up next

France will face Paraguay in the Round of 16 — a team that shocked Germany on penalties (4-3 after a 1-1 draw) to reach this stage. A fascinating clash awaits.
