Saibari's 71-second stunner fires Morocco past Scotland 1-0 to top Group C

Morocco needed just 71 seconds to break Scottish hearts at GlobeLife Park in Boston. PSV Eindhoven's Ismael Saibari received a perfectly weighted through ball from Brahim Díaz shortly after kick-off, composed himself and fired past Angus Gunn to score the fastest goal of the 2026 World Cup.

Scotland fought back with real determination in the second half, with Kieran Tierney and Scott McTominay driving forward, but Morocco's compact and well-drilled defence — shaped by coach Mohamed Ouahbi — stood firm and kept a comfortable clean sheet.

Morocco top Group C with 4 points from two games and approach their final group match against Haiti in a commanding position. Scotland face a dramatic last game against Brazil knowing they need a positive result to make the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
